Application Management

There's a lot here, so this will certainly take time, but we want to be thinking big picture. Please add/discuss ideas!

  1. Global Application View - that would show all applications installed (including version, date installed, etc)

  2. Ability to install/uninstall applications

  3. Have the ability to create a list of trusted applications, or perhaps denied applications. (probably need both)

  4. Alerting (or better yet, enforcement) when an unauthorized app is installed, or if a mandatory app is missing. (See CIS control #2)

  5. Application Search/Filters on the device page

  6. Show application versions. Ideally this is tied into repos (Winget, Brew, APT) so that we can compare to the latest release.

  7. Pin an application to a specific version so that patch policies will not update it.

Yep, this all sounds great, also having an endpoint onboarding procedure to automate app deployment would be awesome too! Whitelisting/Trusting apps would be awesome per organisation or department/group/tag. This way when a new endpoint is added, you can auto uninstall bloatware or anything the endpoint doesn't need to have.

The ability to 1) create a report of these apps and 2)flag apps that are out of date / vulnerable (newer version available / or have a NIST CVE listed for them) would be very practical and easy to sell (Level.io (http://Level.io)) to clients. E.g, I'd like to filter for "vulnerable" apps and push updates out ASAP. SentinelOne integration may help with this.

I'd like to be able to monitor application versions without running a script on the device. Level already has an inventory of applications on devices and what version it detects, so it would be nice to just monitor those. Real life example, Microsoft releases a security alert for Edge at least once a month. I'd like to have a monitor that can help me maintain the most recent version. I'm sure I can find someway to do this with a combination of scripting and alerting within an automation, it would just be less overhead to use the data already populated in Level.

Hi! To have an overview of the 3rd party applications and visually see them and what needs patching would be great. The automation is great, but it doesn't give an insight of what software need to be patched, so it just goes through everythingthat needs updating, which is great, but not controlled enough. To have a similar area for 3rd party apps like the Windows updates, would be great. If the Application and Update tab could be visible at top level, or at least on the group level, it would be great as well. So could easily on-demand just select devices and what patches to update, despite it's for the OS or 3rd party apps. Add an example on my thoughts:
